RAR rims

The performance of the wheel mostly depends on the choice of the rim. Situated at the most external diameter of the wheel, the rim is the component playing the biggest role in the wheel inertia, its dynamical properties. A high performing wheel, requiring the least amount of energy, is equipped with a light rim.
The weight however does not mean everything. Stiffness, aerodynamics, impact resistance, vibrations absorptions are as important for absolute optimization.
Four of our stock wheels spins onto an ultra light, high modulus carbon fiber rims. The fifth one is alloy based.

 

Aluminum rim

TEMPO is 27mm deep aluminum rim based. Versatile, it is a snappy rim thanks to its 440g rim and the stiffness coming from its construction. Narrow with 19,8mm, it optimizes the aerodynamics.

For highest reliability, stability, it is manufactured through a double sleeve joint. This feature balances the weight of the valve and makes the braking very smooth. The CNC machined brake track makes the braking very strong whatever the conditions.

TEMPO is also available in the 22mm and 30mm depth for custom built wheels. 

 
 
 
 

 

 

Carbon fibre rims

Our carbon creations own a technology rarely met in bicycle's world.
Mainly made from very high modulus carbon in the United-States, their weight to lateral stiffness ratio remains is unbeatable. SVELT 32mm weights 255g for 32mm, OPTIMAL is 330g for 46mm and MAGNUM is 450g for 66mm!

The specific layup schedule in the structure is designed to offer different properties depending on the axle they are felt. This anisotropy give the rim a damping effect without compromising lateral stiffness, acceleration, feedback, and overall rim strength. This damping effect increases the long distances performance as it relieves the lumbars and joints.

Carbon fiber rims have to deal with many stress. Because of its design, a standard carbon rim is weaker than its alloy counterpart in term of impact and heat resistance. Impacts sometimes happen while riding, and heat dissipation is crucial for a very reliable product. Indeed while braking, the friction between brake pads and rim surface heats up the carbon/resin matrix that deforms in extreme cases. The tire could even blow off as well.
In our case, RAR rims are designed for high impact resistance: they can be ridden over the cobbles without any issue.
Second, the resin used into our rims is extremely heat resistant. In combination with the 3K carbon fiber of the brake track and the Reynolds Cryo blue brake pads, they significantly reduce generated heat from friction.

Under rainy conditions, the water makes a coat over the brake track that the brake pad is unable to chase away. The brake pad glides on the rim over the water. 
Our RAR rims features a special brake track that provides a good braking even under wet conditions. Indeed because of the woven carbon fiber on the brack track, there are some asperities all along braking surface, which help the pad to grab.

The RAR always provide a constant and strong braking. The rims are extremely light, with no limit of pressure, neither for tubular, nor for clinchers, and do not suffer of heat issues.
